Story of the Huaorani elders

Amazhope first project was to document members of the non contacted generation, members who are or were still alive to share their wisdom and how they feel about the world they live in now. Short videos as never seen before and a unique short documentary to come.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

You can help in many ways. Amazhope offer the opportunity to volunteer in the Amazon rainforest and in Quito; or you can decide to be a spokeperson for Amazhope and spread the word about the reality of the rainforest of Ecuador and its People.

You can also donate to specific projects or monthly.

HUAORANI FACTS

Originally from the Amazonian Region of Ecuador, the Waorani (Huaorani) are the last hunter-gatherers ethnic group.

For centuries, Waorani warriors, called Aucas a Quichua word meaning "savages," by outsiders are perhaps equaled only by their Shuar neighbors to the south for their reputation as a fierce independent group, hostile to outside intrusions (who sought to exploit the Amazon Rainforest and conquer its inhabitants) and willing to resort to violence to defend their ancestral lands.
